Q & A with Jacqui Lemmens

1.How long have you been working at King’s Castle Theatre?

“I have worked at King’s Castle Theatre for 13 years. I came to Branson from Scotland in 2008 to perform in the Spirit of the Dance Irish dancing show. I then became the dance captain, then choreographer, and now Director and General Manager. It’s been a crazy ride.”

2.What are some of your daily responsibilities as a Director & Producer of the show?

“Responsibilities vary depending on what stage of production we are in. In the beginning creative stage, it is a very intense time deciding on material, concepts, casting, costuming, lighting and staging, etc. However, even when the show is open, the show’s development and ongoing “morphing” never ends. We are constantly in creative mode and always looking for ways to improve the product, even though I would say we have just about mastered this one!”

3.What stands out about a show like Anthems of Rock in Branson, Missouri? Is it the music? The costumes? The theme?

“This show has ROCK STAR QUALITY!!!! The music is soooooooo popular. Who doesn’t love jamming out to 80’s rock anthems? It’s what the people of Branson have been waiting for. It’s a rock concert musical party that you will not want to end!”

4.Tell us a little about the cast members who play a part in this performance.

“The cast list is Courtnay Collins from Scotland, who is our dance captain and phenomenal choreographer.
Kristen Dasto is also the head coach for the Branson Sweethearts Dance Cheer Team.
Amy Morlang has been dancing at King’s Castle Theatre for 14 years now and is from England.
Rowan Lewis Mitchell was classically trained in London and moved into musical theatre. He auditioned for us in London. Yes, this is an international cast which makes us a bit different from other shows around too.
Jay McManus is the long-haired, leather pants-wearing rocker also from London. He is now married to a gorgeous girl from Texas, and they have 3 beautiful children. On the side, Jay has a landscaping business called Weed Whackers.
Sarah Marie La Beau is our guitar-playing rocker. Miss Sarah plays many instruments, loves to write music, and brings that ROCK STAR QUALITY I was talking about.
Jack Cathcart is the newest member of the show, and he and his amazing guitar skills are wowing audiences.
Mesa Mitchell stopped performing for a while to pursue a successful career in teaching Intermediate academic students. Lucky for us, she decided to come back to her first passion and is bringing the house down with her powerhouse vocals.
Brian Ashton Miller was part of the National tour of Rock of Ages The Musical, so he is no stranger to rocking it on stage. We are thrilled to have him as part of the Anthems Team.
Kelvin Wright is from England and has been part of the KCT team for 4 years.”

5.How often does the show change/update?

“Our hopes for 2021 are to provide top-class entertainment for our guests and for Branson to keep booming. Also for the visitors to keep coming to enjoy this beautiful, action-packed town. The guests that have been to the show are for SURE going to come back – this is the kind of show you can’t just see once.”

6.What are your hopes for the 2021 show season? What has been the guest reception of the performance so far?

“Anthems of Rock is a live show with some of the most fabulous energetic performers who are having the time of their lives up there. You never know what’s going to happen on any given night.”

7.What’s the best part about having a show in the area of Branson? Is it the people? The location?

“Branson has been named the world’s live music capital, and – right now – it is definitely living up to that title, and it’s an honor to be a part of it. I believe Branson is becoming famous for being one of the first towns to bounce back after the pandemic and opened its doors responsibly and kept theatre alive.”

8.Any other news/updates/announcements you have?

“Anthems of Rock is the Biggest Rock Party in Branson, and now we have The ULTIMATE 70s show, so it’s a good time to visit The Kings Castle Theatre! Our new show for 2021, Dancing Queen, is also the hot ticket in town.”

What others are saying about Anthems of Rock on TripAdvisor:

“ALL THE HITS!! I loved this group of young talented, and energetic performers in ANTHEMS OF ROCK! Enjoy and celebrate classic hits from the ’70s and ’80s! If you love those hits, then you will enjoy this show as well as the venue. My favorite was Meatloaf’s Anything for Love. Also enjoyed the dancing and seeing the costume changes.”—Kim Hinkle, TripAdvisor May 2021

“Best time ever! Went to Anthems of Rock with a couple of friends. One came from far who I grew up with. We had the best time ever!! They played all the classics we grew up with. The singing and musicians were spot on. The dancing was so energetic you couldn’t help to rock out with them. My friend was hesitant about a show, but we can’t stop talking about it and definitely glad we went!! They got talent!!”— Jerrabecca April 2021
